Text Connections

1. Gloria Andalzua
        La Conciencia de la Mestiza
         - A mestiza is defined as a woman of racially mixed ancestry.
         - Andalzua talks about living her life as a biracial female homosexual and the difficulties that
come with it compared to being a white female homosexual.

2. Adrienne Rich
        Compulsory Heterosexuality and Lesbian Existence
         - Compulsory: Obligatory, mandatory, or required
         - Heterosexuality: Straight, the relationship between a man and a woman
         Rich explains:
         - Heterosexuality is so compulsory in our culture that it is almost not seen as a choice.
         - Rich explained that in fact heterosexuality is not always there, it could be something chosen
or developed in us because of the forced of the culture

3. Peggy Orenstein
         Cinderella ate my daughter
          - This text shows that it is a stereotype for girls to have a prince charming which does not help
out the topic of same-sex marriage.
          - There should not be stereotypical relationships imprinted in children's heads.
